Sam Alles

  • I have been playing volleyball at a competitive level since I was 13, starting my club career with Sports Performance and later competing for 630 Volleyball. I won a State Championship as a Defensive Specialist at Glenbard West High School and went on to play collegiate club volleyball at Colorado State University, where I recently graduated.

I’ve spent most of my career as a Libero, with some experience as an Outside Hitter, giving me a strong understanding of both defensive and all-around play. I take pride in being a strong leader and an effective coach, and I believe that creating an enjoyable training environment leads to better development and long-term success. I have experience working with athletes of all ages and skill levels.

  • Skills: Defensive Work, Serve Receive, Serving, Attacking
Positions: Libero, Defensive Specialist (DS), Outside
    Ages: 7-19
    Genders: All
Club-Affiliations: Colorado State University Men's Volleyball

  • I believe athletes perform at their best when they’re having fun - that’s something I’ve learned firsthand through my own experience in the sport. Training shouldn’t always be easy, but it should be enjoyable in the sense that you’re excited to learn, grow, and compete. Loving volleyball and embracing that process of growth is what leads to real development, and what I try to instill in my players. While I will always push athletes to improve and reach their potential, I never lose sight of keeping that passion for the game at the center of training.

Communication is also a key part of my approach. What you take away from a session matters, so I always make time to talk through performance, understand each player’s perspective, and reinforce both growth and understanding. My goal is that my love for coaching and training translates into each athlete’s love for playing, improving, and competing at a higher level.
