Carson Turner played three years of varsity volleyball at Lyons Township High School, where he helped lead the team to a 2nd-place finish at the IHSA State Tournament in 2023 as the team's setter. He also competed for 630 Volleyball Club for three years and was named to several volleyball watch lists during his club career.

Carson is currently a Team Manager and Practice Player for the women's volleyball program at the University of Illinois, where he continues to develop his knowledge of the game while working alongside elite collegiate athletes and coaches.

My coaching philosophy is centered around finding the right balance between allowing athletes to identify and learn from their own mistakes and stepping in to help them make corrections when needed. I believe athletes learn best when they are encouraged to think through challenges and develop a deeper understanding of the game.

I focus primarily on teaching strong fundamentals rather than making minor adjustments to improve performance. Building a solid foundation gives athletes the tools they need to continue developing long after a training session ends.

I also believe that mechanics should be taught with an athlete's current abilities in mind. Many young athletes try to imitate professional players, but those techniques are often dependent on a level of athleticism that takes years to develop. My goal is to help athletes master techniques that fit their current skill set while creating a path for future growth.
I place a strong emphasis on communication and feedback. When athletes feel supported and understood, they are more willing to push themselves outside of their comfort zone, make mistakes and learn from them. My goal is to help athletes build confidence in their skills, improve their decision-making and take ownership of their development on and off the court.
